Mentoring the Mentors Workshop

Hosted by the Miami Center for AIDS Research (CFAR), the Miami Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) and the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) CFAR

You are invited to participate in the Mentoring the Mentors Workshop
January 19, 2016 8am-5pm

This one day workshop is an intensive and interactive meeting designed to provide mid-level and senior faculty in HIV research with the tools for more effective mentoring, especially for mentees of diversity (defined mainly as those from underrepresented racial/ethnic minorities). The goal of the workshop is to provide UM mentors in HIV research with the skills to enhance effective mentoring to junior faculty or faculty new to HIV research.

The workshop features 1) didactic and interactive sessions on practical tips for mentoring, 2) personality factors and mentoring, 3) time management, 4) resources and tools, 5) consultation for addressing mentoring challenges and 6) barriers related to being an early career investigator of diversity (e.g. unconscious bias, micro aggressions).

The upcoming workshop will be collaboratively facilitated by faculty from the Miami CFAR and UCSF CFAR mentoring programs.
The Miami CFAR Leadership strongly encourages HIV investigators engaging in mentoring to participate. Participants must commit to attend the full day.
