The Behavioral/Social Science & Community Outreach (BSSCO) Core enhances and expands existing research programs, to promote new interdisciplinary research initiatives, and to provide the infrastructure necessary to enable CFAR researchers to strategically move into new, high priority areas of Investigation.
A special emphasis of this core is assisting CFAR invstigators in establishing and maintaining strong and bi-directional community pertnerships.
These Goals will be accomplished through the following aims:
- Promote active involvement of South Florida community-based organizations (CBOs) in the Miami CFAR
- Provide investigators with consultation and resources to enhance recruitment and retention of community and clinic-based study participants with attention to “hard to find” populations
- Expand the opportunities for behavioral/social scientists to collaborate with clinical and laboratory scientists
